Beaytiful Roses

Roses are the most beautiful flower. They are so beautiful that I decided to plant several for my garden. With much enthusiasm, I headed to the garden store, spent hours selecting just the right plants. You can not imagine my excitement to bring the plants home. I could vision the beauty in my garden. Once at home I gathered all the necessary tolls and began to plant. After planting I began to learn many things, roses like sunshine. My area was a little less than sunny. They like a good bit of water and that posed no problem. A month went by and I was encouraged by the sight of buds beginning. You can not believe my excitement. Everyday I was anxious to see how much more my roses had developed. Time went by and I could finally say that the buds were ready to burst. That’s when it happened. When I went out in the morning filled with anticipation I was astounded to find all the rose buds neatly clipped off. Who could have done such a thing? I cannot believe that it would be much of a thrill for possibly a teenager to cut the buds (although I must say that I have been guilty of accusing teenagers unjustly). But who could the culprit be? I questioned the neighbors to see if they had seen anyone about my garden, but no one had any ideas. As a last resort I called the garden shop to see if they could give me any answers. The shop owner, who is a master gardener, most likely would have some idea of how beautiful developed rose buds could be cut off. Maybe an insect of some kind had attack them. I must say I was surprised that he chuckled when I ask the question. I am sorry to tell you that you have been victimized by a lovely creature, a deer. A deer, I exclaimed. Yes, deer love rose buds They think of them as desert. What do I do now? “Well,” he said, that is complicated. I guess that will be my next post.
