Can Ferrets Really Be the Perfect Pet?

You will be very surprised to hear me say that the ferret is the best pet your can get. Before you roll your eyes too much and scoff hear me out. Did you know that ferrets were used long ago by hunters to go into rabbit holes and chase the rabbit out? They did that and if there is one common misconception, it’s that ferrets are not intelligent.

Surprisingly so, ferrets can be very easily trained… though not as easily as dogs or cats. The best way to go about training ferrets is to use food as positive reinforcement. If you want to punish them, then showing no attention and locking them in their cage is incredibly effective.

Caring for your ferret is really important as well and will make a bid difference to the way that they respond to you. For one, you want to have a really good ferret cage will make a big difference. You want your cage to be big enough and have lots of levels for your ferret to play. This will make a big difference in the temperament of your ferret.

So having a big indoor cage is really important, but if you have the room and extra money, creating a big enclosure for your ferret to enjoy the outdoors would be great. You can easily create these yourself and use your imagination when doing so.

Ferrets are also carnivores so they will need a diet that is rich in animal proteins. Not to long ago, ferrets didn’t have their own types of foods… but now you can find the right food in almost all grocery stores or pet stores.
