obscure 80’s hair bands?
hey–i’m trying to make my friend a birthday cd with music he’s never heard before but might like. unfortunately, he’s heard almost everything. can someone recommend some good obscure 80’s hair band songs? I’m thinking gorky park, bang tango, vain and other bands never played on the radio. he’s heard of everything like skid row, slaughter etc. thanks

I used to listen to a band called Kik Tracee. You may want to try to look them up….Bang Tango rocks! Love em….Red Rider was good…Ugly Kid Joe–but he has probably heard of them, they had their share of airtime in the late 80’s early 90’s. BulletBoys, Kix, Vinnie Vincent Invasion, Ace Frehley, Hanoi Rocks, Lizzy Borden, Pretty Boy Floyd, Lillian Axe, Badlands, Bonham, Smashed Gladys….hope this helps!

Don’t you just love Fleetwood Mac?
I listen to my Fleetwood Mac cd’s everyday. Especially going to work (45 min drive). Their songs make me happy and feel good!
What album do you think is Fleetwood Mac’s best.
Personally I like Rumors the best. But Tango in the Night is a close second!
I like the songs Tusk & The Chain… did you know: Mick Fleetwood was brothers – in – law with George Harrison of the Beatles… founding member guitarist Peter Green replaced Eric Clapton in the Bluestreakers before Fleetwood Mac was formed and Mick Fleetwood was in a band with vocalist Rod Stewart called Shotgun Express…

Musical Selection?
I’m a competitive ice dancer. My partner and I have been competeing together (both on our second partnerships) for seven years this month. We used to pairs skate, but now mainly do ice dancing (sort of ballroom dancing on ice, to simplify things greatly).
We’re doing this benefit in the summer, not a standard competition. Therefore, no CD/OD/FD regulations. We’re skating three dances, one must have a latin feel (think Cha-Cha/Samba/Rumba), one must have more of a traditional ballroom feel (think Waltz/Tango/Foxtrot), and the other is a freestyle. We need songs for each.
What we’d like:
Latin: Sexual undertones (without being unappropriate), passionate, medium tempo.
Ballroom: Slower tempo, more lovey-dovey then passionate.
Freestyle: FUN! Fast tempo.
Any suggestions?

Latin- I love Santa Maria ( del buen ayre) by the GoTan Project really unual.
Freestyle- Sway by anybdy… or maybe music from memoirs of a geshia.. very good.
Ballroom- you can’t beat strauss for waltzes if that’s what you are looking for. or else i always like "it had to be you" and "fly me to the moon."
bonus thought. "new york, new york" my frank( guess) is always a BIG crowd pleaser!

trying to find a rap song?
im really struggling to remember a song a friend had on a mix CD, it almost sounded like salsa music or something you’d hear in a tango?
its from 2007-2008 any suggestions to get me started would be great
one thing i just remembered, the salsa/tango beat at the beginning has a very pronounced bass whenever it hits, and theres a tune of piano along with it in the backround. dunno if this helps

Sound to Light for a person with hearing problems but needs to be able to ’see’ the beat and the rhythm.?
A caller for for a dance group who needs to be able to hear/see the rhytm, be it a walz, tango, jive etc that is being played on CD.
Sound to light units have been around for years. Maplin do a number of disco units or if you have a mate who is a bit useful with electronics it’s not difficult to bolt one together from a few bits. http://www.aaroncake.net/circuits/organ.asp
Alternatively see if you can borrow a graphic equaliser that has a display.

my mom ask me to make a cd for her and she wanted some cha cha, ballroom or tango kinda song. shes very picky. she wants the one that you can really dance to. not hip hop. various astist can be fine. thx!
