Is it possible to learn dancing entirely online?

I am interested in Argentine Tango and wonder if it is possible to learn dancing online? Do feel free to provide your comments. Thanks! =)

Yes! it is possible.

lesson 1/20 and there are more

It is said that if you can walk you can tango. However, it all depends on your learning style – if you are dedicated and passionate to learn this beautiful dance and have partner/s to practice with, then the see-do-from-the-screen is doable. Of course, it is very unlikely to become a top dancer just by watching youtube, but couple of few routines to impress your friends is realistic ;)

check out the tango scene with Al Pacino at Scent of a woman. Pretty inspiring.

My sincere advice: watch some videos, get inspired and go take some classes. The fun is in meeting new people and having a good time.

No, if you want to learn how to dance, go and learn how to dance, from a real teacher who can fix your technical faults and make sure you’re doing things properly and not just guessing.

you can learn dance combinations online if you already know how to dance and you have awesome strenght and technique, but you can’t learn how to dance online mainly because there is nobody there to correct you or help you better understand a piece of choreography. But if you are already a good dancer and you want to learn a combination then go for it!!

No. The figures are just figures. The dance is in the connection, and you’ll never feel that on the web. People who do partner dancing, be it Argentine tango, ballroom, or some other genre, will find both pain and humor watching So You Think You Can Dance, where dancers who are very good in other genres learn choreography for partner dances but just don’t get it. And those are highly trained and skilled dancers working with coaches. On line only? Forget it!

It isn’t very likely that you can learn anything online very well. We all need teachers to properly learn any skill. Someone else can be more objective about your flaws.
